Safety first

Every active range has a Safety Officer.

OISC maintains safety through range design, operating procedures, specific range rules, safety briefings, and Range Safety Officers or Range Masters on duty.

Posted archery range rules sign at the club

Safety is the culture, not a poster.

Range design, briefings, and volunteer officers work together so members and guests can shoot with confidence.

Waiver before fire

Participants sign a Public Shooter Waiver prior to using any range. The requirement applies to members and guests.

Protection required

Use appropriate eye and ear protection on all ranges. Spectators need hearing protection as required by each range.

Cease Fire authority

Anyone may call Cease Fire when an unsafe condition exists. The RSO or Range Master may suspend shooting at any time.

Key rules visitors should know

  • Fire only on scheduled ranges with an RSO or Range Master present.
  • Fire only pre-authorized firearms and ammunition for that range.
  • Fully automatic firearms are strictly prohibited.
  • Alcohol, illicit drugs, and recreational drugs are prohibited on all ranges. Alcohol in the clubhouse is allowed only if the person has declared they will not shoot further.
  • Police brass, paper, and debris after completing a shooting event.
  • The RSO or Range Master may suspend privileges for people who do not follow operating procedures. The Executive Committee reviews expulsions.

Each range has additional rules for targets, calibers, commands, and misfires. Read the official rules before shooting. The portal waiver is a demo preview only and does not satisfy the club’s waiver requirement.
